Are you a fan of cinnamon and sugar? If so, you need to try these delightful treats. We recently added Cinnamon Sugar Cookies to our Christmas cookie distribution for family & friends; they’ve been a huge hit!
Christmas or not, you can enjoy these cookies all year long. They’re relatively easy and quick to make; the waiting game is having to chill the dough – that’s it.
Recipe: Cinnamon Sugar Cookies
Time: 55 minutes (including prep, cooling and baking)
Serves: 12-16 cookies
What you’ll need:
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon + 1/4 cup sugar mixed together in a small bowl
- sprinkles (optional, I use red for Christmas cookies!)
Directions:
- Mix your dry ingredients in a bowl (flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon) and set aside
- Cream together butter and sugar using a mixer
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix until everything is combined
- Stir in the dry mix until the dough comes together
- Add in the milk and keep mixing – the dough shouldn’t feel crumby or wet
- Wrap your dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (or 375°F depending on how even your oven is) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Take your dough out of the fridge, cut and roll into 1-1 1/2 inch balls
- TIP! I usually scoop with a teaspoon and then roll it into a little ball
- Roll the ball into the cinnamon-sugar mix and place on your baking sheet
- Lightly press down on the balls and flatten with a fork to add texture, top with sprinkles (optional)
- Bake for 10-12 minutes; remove from the oven when they’re still soft and allow them to cool for a couple of minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a cookie rack
